Today in art we made colour wheels with Mrs. Groom using hand prints. We got together with our buddies and painted our hands with primary colours. Primary colours are Yellow, Blue and Red.
We then printed our hand prints with the primary colours, making sure that two hand prints over lapped each other making a secondary colour. Secondary colours are Green, Orange and Purple.
We learnt that when two primary colours mix they make a secondary colour.
Like......
Yellow + Red = Orange
Blue + Red = Purple
Blue + Yellow = Green.

Education outside the Classroom - Lake Pupuke
In Room 29, we are looking at challenging ourselves and learning new things. As part of that learning we went to Lake Pupuke last Tuesday, the 1st of March to try our hands at some learning outside the classroom. We did a lot of cool fun things like raft building, making pancakes, building camp fires and adventure based activities and games that required lots of team work and problem solving strategies.
All of us ended up challenging ourselves in one way or another and some of us found all the things challenging, but fun at the same time. For the majority of us racing the rafts we had built was the highlight of the day.
We consider ourselves very lucky, as we got to do all those fun things, while we remembered that it was exactly a week since Christchurch had, had the terrible earthquake and the people there are still meeting challenges of their own. We wish them strength to carry on and rebuild their city and wish we could have more such cool fun learning days outside the classroom.

Math is Fun
In Room 29 we have been looking at making different types of graphs.
We did not know math can be so much fun, until our teacher Mrs. Sidhwa brought small packets of smarties for each and every one of us. That day we had heaps of fun learning and making column graphs, not to mention getting to eat them too.
Here is a slide show for you to see how you can make math fun too. Enjoy !

Welcome to 2011 and a brand new Room 29.
We are an awesome bunch of kids and excited to learn new and interesting things.
This term we are looking at Challenges !
Our favourite quote is, "Co-operate with everybody and compete with yourself"
So, watch this space to hear and see about some of the personal challenges we undertake and overcome/achieve.
